The launch of Slow Food NOLA continues this weekend with a visit from vocalist Ellen Kaye and guitarist Ethan Fein of New York’s Moscow 57 entertainment and catering group. Ellen and Ethan will perform at the Hollygrove Market and Farm this Saturday, Oct 6 from 10am – 2 pm.
I had the pleasure of being the guest chef at M57’s pop-up restaurant Under the Bridge in Harlem for two nights this past August. I truly had a blast cooking in an urban garden center under the rail bridge on 116th and Park while Ellen, Ethan and numerous musical guests played into the night. Slow Food NOLA aims to return the favor and host M57 for a pop-up some time after Mardi Gras. Ellen and Ethan are making their maiden voyage to New Orleans to get some of that voodoo that we do so well!
Saturday will also be a volunteer workday on the mentor farmer plot followed by a Slow Food jambalaya demo. Work on the farm will begin at 9 am. The jambalaya will hit the fire ~ noonish, with lunch soon to follow.
So, come make groceries at Hollygrove this Saturday, enjoy some fabulous music, great weather and make new friends … & come a little early if ‘ya wanna dig in the dirt for your dinner.
